On November 7 and 8, 2015, the Southwest Woodcarvers Association hosted their annual People’s Choice Show and Sale at the Foothills Mall in Tucson, AZ. Rob displayed his carvings at the show and demonstrated carving for the hundreds of people who visited the mall and spent time at the show.

Additionally, Rob entered several carvings into the People’s Choice show and was rewarded once again with ribbons. His newest bird carving titled “Hunter” showing a full size American Kestrel grabbing a Desert Spiny Lizard off a large piece of cottonwood bark won two blue ribbons.

The dramatic carving of the open-winged falcon won Best in Realistic Category and first place in the Bird Carving Category.

His newest caricature titled “Bud’s Used Trucks” won a second place in the Caricature Category. This latter carving is so new we don’t have a photo of it yet on the website but it will soon be added!

This annual show is a favorite for many Tucson residents who come out and vote for their favorite carvings displayed by the Southwest Woodcarvers Association and is important because the public gets to express their interest and what excites them the most about carving. They are also treated to many carving demonstrations and get to learn about the art of wood carving and wood sculpture.
