I’ve spent a lot of time out on the Navajo Nation lands and have always appreciated the culture. The jewelry is where the wealth is kept and this guy is a bit of a throwback because of the flat brimmed hat and moccasins. The trading posts in the generation past were the place to shop and buy basic provisions, often leaving the jewelry as collateral until they had the cash. In a way I guess the the trading post was the only general store available! [View]

Goldfinches love thistle type seeds and you can see them in the flower fields of sunflowers and coreopsis flowers. I wanted to capture a male and female pair enjoying their meal. I wanted the flowers to complement the coloration of the birds and to convey a sense that the viewer is privy to a private moment with these small, colorful birds enjoying a favorite meal. [View]
